When I planned my scuba diving trip to Con Dao, Vietnam, I expected stunning reefs. And I found them. But I saw something on the Amadive dive list: **Diving a Sunken Wreck**. My heart leaped. This was more than a typical dive; this was exploration into the past.
I have to admit, I felt nervous. Wreck diving requires extra care. But the team at **Amadive** was fantastic. Their Divemasters provided a detailed briefing. We covered safety protocols, the history of the sunken ship, and what we would see. Being in such a small group instantly made me feel confident.
Going down was surreal. At first, it's a dark shape in the blue, and then the wreck appeared. It was huge. The ship is now a bustling artificial reef, covered in soft corals and teeming with marine life. We saw giant read more groupers peeking from inside the hull, and lionfish patrolling the superstructure. That feeling of gliding next to this silent, ghostly structure is hard to describe—haunting, awe-inspiring, and humbling all at once. It's a time capsule on the seabed.
For any an Open Water diver (or higher) coming to Con Dao and looking for something more the standard reef, I cannot recommend this **Con Dao wreck dive** enough. It was the unforgettable highlight of my diving trip. A huge shout-out to the **Amadive Con Dao** team for their professionalism and for making this incredible adventure so safe.
